Explore your creativity through collaborative workshops with artists wherever you are. Whether you’re an aspiring painter, a weekend sculptor, or simply someone with a passion for exploring new artistic horizons, engaging in creative workshops with experienced artists offers a unique experience. subcultours is a new platform which helps you to unlock your artistic potential anywhere – even while traveling. We asked Katja Krämer about this innovative idea and how it works.
-What is subcultours and how did you create it?
– subcultours is a booking platform for creative workshops with artists and artisans in Europe and beyond.
The idea of subcultours arose when founder Katja Krämer aka Kat was living and working in Costa Rica. She thought of a way to connect travelers with local artists so that both parties would benefit: The travelers by gaining new creative skills and knowledge, and the artists by gaining a second income stream and more exposure for their art.
-What is the idea behind the movement and the website?
-subcultours’ mission is to use the universal voice of creativity to bring all types of people together in real life, to inspire, learn, and grow with each other. Regardless of age, culture, profession, and gender.
-You have partners and artists based in various European countries, how do you work and who can join subcultours?
-subcultours operates as an online booking platform where artists can list their creative workshops.
Customers from other places can find and book these workshops on the platform.
Once a booking is made, we notify the artists accordingly so that they can receive their customers in real life.
You can join subcultours when you have a track record of your artistic journey that you can share with us (for instance a website or social media channel). That way we can see that you’ve already seriously followed the artistic path and are ready to teach other people and host workshops. Please send us an email to hi@subcultours.com with your references.
-Who are the users of the website, are they tourists or locals?
-Users are travelers, expats, international students/digital nomads living abroad, and locals who want to escape their daily lives for a while.
-Which countries are involved in the EU and is there any chance to join you if your conutry is not listed as a partner yet?
-Our biggest markets are at the moment Portugal and Germany. We also started operating in Belgium, Spain, Argentina, Finland, Switzerland, Hungary and Romania.
Important: You can also join if your country is not yet listed on our platform.
-What are your plans for the future, how do you imagine the next two years?
-In the next two years, we want to keep growing as a business, building a denser workshop portfolio in the existing markets, and expanding to further countries. We want to become known as the number one go-to platform for creative workshops with artists and artisans in Europe and beyond.
